JUNIOR SAILING

The Junior Sailing  helps new young sailors feel comfortable and confident in a sailboat while building sailing skills. Junior sailors can gain skills at every level from learn to sail to advanced race team tactics based on US Sailing Level 1 course objectives. The decades old sailing camp is the largest sailing program in the metro area and has gained national respect.

The Pontiac Junior Race Team participates in many sailboat races during the summer through regional and national competitive programs such as Detroit Regional Yacht-Racing Association (DRYA) and US Sailing. PSEF funds registration for events. Being on the race team can boost sailing ability for all school year programs and beyond, a skill that can be enjoyed for a lifetime.

Hours are 9am – 3:30pm and extended hours by arrangement. Classes fill up quickly!

“In all, 80 percent of the children who attend the Learn to Sail camp return to experience the other camp offerings, and some even end up working for the camp years later. STEM activities are incorporated in the program. They use REACH programming from US Sailing.”
